So, have you ever had difficulties taking pictures of your miniatures?
For starters, you need some basic equipment like a camera, lighting and a background. For me, especially the lighting part was difficult to get right. At the same time, I want a setup that is compact and easy to store.
I already have a professional photo flash with a softbox - practical when doing portraits, but 28mm miniatures?! Overkill!!! :-)

That is why I got really curious when I saw that a company called OrangeMonkie had a Kickstarter campaign last year, for a smart and foldable studio: Foldio.

Ready for some testing?

I have been working on some Infinity display scenery from Customeeple for some time.
Yesterday, I painted the sign.
This is my first attempt at freehand letters, but I really like the result.
The letters were done in white with 2 layers of glaze with Acrylicos Vallejo Green Fluo.
I look forward to show you the finished scenery soon :-)
They even decided to include the old seasons of the game for people who missed out. I got really hooked on the Season 1 box, because it seems like a classic set and I only have Season 2.

While surfing the internet - I saw that you can actually buy a lot of the existing Zombicide stuff cheaper than Kickstarter. Another great thing would be that you can get Season 1/2 right now, instead of waiting for Season 3 to ship in Feb 2015 :-)

Please note that this only applies for people in the US - since Zombicide is a lot more expensive in Europe.
Also, I am in no way trying to troll the Kickstarter. I just think people should be aware of the price difference.
I can highly recommend this video to get you started. There are numerous on youtube - but I really liked this look for the Deathwings. They look so much more realistic than the normal GW paint jobs.

My first Infinity model is finally done :-)
This is a Wildcat from the Nomads faction.
I really liked the detail of the model - great after all the Sedition Wars plastic!

Step by step will come up soon!
For quite some time I have been really fascinated about the Infinity miniatures painted by the studio painter, Angel Giraldez. His work is really nice and I like the whole clean and shiny look that Infinity has with their painting style.
I have decided to introduce Infinity on the blog and bought a few models I hopefully can begin painting in the holidays soon to come.
My first order arrived today with 3 Infinity miniatures as well as some resin bases from Micro Art Studio. I have not planned where and when I will use the bases, they just looked so cool :-)
As I have not really decided to collect or play a special faction to start with, I have tried to just buy some different models I liked. I decided to practice my brush skills on some of the heroes from Sedition Wars. First up is Morgan Vade - a really cool model to paint.
I panted him after the studio colors, since I really liked those.
Comments/Suggestions are welcome :-)
I always take a small break from painting every summer. However, this time, it was just harder than normal to come back. My girlfriend is pregnant and we have mainly concentrated on getting the house ready for his ETA in November.
Anyway, good news is that I have a lot of great stuff planned for the blog. First off, I will continue with my Sedition Wars tutorials. I am unfortunately still waiting for Sedition Wars Wave 2.

Feel free to send your wishes for topics you would like covered :-)Jayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17468225909865629891noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8240889278384169812.post-375386987637395092013-06-08T15:21:00.000+02:002013-06-08T15:21:30.251+02:00Protect yourself - Use an air respirator when airbrushing or doing oil washes!

I have recently been getting some headaches after using different solvent with oil washes. The stuff used for cleaning the airbrush is also bad news for your health - so we should all take care :-)

I am currently working on one of the Strain Brimstone models from Sedition Wars. It will eventually result in a tutorial hopefully soon.
As the model is a bit larger than the others are, I was able to paint all of the skin entirely with airbrush. I love the result because it is so smooth!
Next up it is time for some wash - stay tuned :-)

I have been looking at the Dungeon Crawler board game Super Dungeon Explore for quite some time. I quickly ordered it when I found it on sale!

I have seen some amazing airbrush paint jobs for this game. It will be great practice and good with some change from the usual style of miniatures.

I cannot wait to get started - though it will probably be a while cause I really want to get more models from Sedition Wars done before :-)Jayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17468225909865629891noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8240889278384169812.post-50401742202542872862013-04-07T10:01:00.000+02:002015-01-16T15:13:34.751+01:00Painting Tutorial: Sedition Wars Strain - Phase 1
